We had the good fortune of connecting with Scott Carr Rob Demlow and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Scott Carr, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?

At Brotherhood Designs, LLC, Scott Carr and Rob Demlow are used to creating a quality heirloom product that generations will continue to enjoy. Their brand is paying tribute to those who selflessly protect our communities. Each piece of patriotic art is made from retired fire hose that serves as a symbol of resilience, courage and unity. Their success comes from paying tribute by telling stories by accentuating the rips, tears and scars that the hose has from years of service to the community. They also are taking advantage of opportunities to get pictures with influential people and leaders within society. The Brotherhood brand is helping organizations raise money for charities all over the US and are at $40,000 total at the end of 2 years.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Brotherhood Designs pays attention to detail while accentuating the blemishes on the hose from battles on the fireground. Scott and Rob use the US Standard Measurements to acquire the overall size of the flag that they are making. The quality of products that are used to assemble a Brotherhood product are of the highest standards. The Union is separated from the stripes and everything including the stars is made from fire hose. Each flag has a certificate of authenticity and numbered in the series. There are multiple options that the customer can choose in order to individualize every order. Brotherhood is most proud of the lengths taken to distinguish their product from others on the market.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Scott and Rob have started a program in Music City called the #NashvilleFlagCrawl. They would take friends and visitors to each venue where a Brotherhood Designs Flag resides and take pictures with the flags, then post to social media and tag the venue, Brotherhood and #NashvilleFlagCrawl. If they do this at Tootsie’s, Lucky Bastard Saloon, Whiskey River Saloon and John Rich’s Redneck Riviera, they receive a free flag crawl t-shirt. After these places, they would go to some others on Broadway and in Music Valley where their favorite singers perform, such as Donny Lee, Tyson Hanes, Mike Riley and many others.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Even before Brotherhood became a company, Scott and Rob regularly enjoyed the music and socializing scene in Nashville. They went to the popular bars on Broadway and started to meet some of the entertainers. While delivering the first flag to Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge in Music City in December of 2021, they met Donny Lee, a regular singer at Lucky Bastard Saloon, and his wife Shauna. When the Lee’s saw a picture of the flag they were delivering, they immediately liked the brand before there was one. They were instrumental in connecting Scott and Rob to others in Nashville, including country music legend John Rich, who received Brotherhood Designs flag #8 the day after Lucky Bastard Saloon received their flag #7 in February, 2022. If it wasn’t for the confidence that Donny and Shauna instilled in the two firemen from Indiana, there may not be a Brotherhood brand that continues to grow today. At the end of 2023, 65 flags can be found all throughout the United States. Thank you Donny and Sauna Lee.
