We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeffrey Krantz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeffrey, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Well it’s funny because I thought I was gonna be in the NBA up until I was 12. I remember lying on the floor and watching the Beatles Anthology with my parents. They were both big Beatles fans, but I’d never really gotten into music that deeply by that age. I was more focused on basketball and X-Men. Watching them just struck something in me and everything changed. My dad is a drummer, so music was always all around. I told him I wanted to learn guitar because I wanted to write songs and be the next Beatles. He was pretty pumped about me wanting to learn an instrument, so he pulled out my Mom’s old Kay acoustic they had from the ’70s, and I started plucking away. I bought a couple books to learn how to pick notes and do basic chords and stuff. I started writing songs right away and that was it, I was hooked. I love the fact that I can pull something out of my head and make it sound like something that other people can enjoy.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well I started out playing in bands, sometimes singing, and sometimes playing lead guitar. I started doing my own thing mainly from the fact I couldn’t find a band I wanted to be in back in 2016. Songwriting is really my passion with music, so I had a big batch of songs, found some players, and put an album together. I then released “Krantz” in Oct of 2016. Since then I’ve released an EP, 2 albums, and multiple singles. I definitely stick out these days because I’m one of the rare artist playing pop rock. Rock and roll isn’t quite as big as it used to be, but I feel like music always moves in waves, so who knows what’s gonna be the next big thing…
I’m very proud that I’ve been true to myself. I’ve never released anything that I can’t stand behind. I honestly make music that I would want to listen to, and I think that’s very important as far as being an artist.
It’s definitely not an easy line of “work” to go into. You must be very resilient and just keep going, even when you feel like nothing is happening. As long as your product is good, it’ll be recognized eventually I feel.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I recently moved to Las Vegas, NV back in March, so I’m still trying to find the hot spots, but I’ve def come across some already. This is the entertainment capital of the world, so there’s always plenty to do. There’s a bunch of Cirque de Soleis shows, and my personal fave is “Love” (of course the one with the Beatles soundtrack).
Always great concerts as well, like I recently saw Weezer at the theater in Planet Hollywood, so we’d have to go some live music for sure.
Of course there are some of the best restaurants in the world here, so we’d have to go dine somewhere like Catch or Cathedral.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and my amazing fiancé, Teal.
