We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayley Bishop and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kayley, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my career has taught me is the power of authenticity. In an industry that often showcases polished images and suggests a certain mold for success, I’ve learned that staying true to myself is not only the key to creating meaningful art but also essential for building a brand and vision that resonate with my audience. Embracing authenticity has allowed me to navigate challenges, connect with my audience on a deeper level, and find fulfillment in every aspect of my musical journey.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is a commitment to authenticity. In an industry that often emphasizes conformity, I’ve embraced the journey of discovering who I am, what makes my music unique, and what truly resonates with my audience. I’m most proud of the moments where I’ve been my genuine self on stage, creating an authentic connection with my listeners.

The path to where I am today professionally has been a journey of self-discovery and continuous improvement. It hasn’t been easy, particularly in an industry that can be both thrilling and challenging. Early on, I faced the fear of performing live, but I embraced the mantra of ‘doing it afraid,’ setting deadlines, and pushing through my comfort zone. These challenges have been instrumental in my growth as a performer.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way include the importance of discipline in songwriting, the power of authenticity, and the need to contend for my dreams despite fears of failure. My background in musical theater and character development has shaped my vocal delivery and storytelling, adding a unique dimension to my music.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I would be nothing if I didn’t serve what I believe is a God ordained call to minister through music. I use my personal experiences, long-awaited breakthroughs, daily revelations, and most impactful relationships as the subject matter of my stories, and I share them all with the goal of leaving my audience better than I found them. I want my audience to feel uplifted and inspired, knowing that heaven is close.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m very much biased towards my talented friends, so I’d likely see who was playing and take my visitors there. I’m also a huge fan of two stepping, so a night out dancing sounds like the ticket. The Nashville Palace and The Local are frequent spots of mine and on a rare occasion, you’ll find me at Bourbon Street Boogie Woogie Bar.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Tiffany Napper! I’m lucky enough to be her next door neighbor and she continuously blows me away with her business acumen and moxxy. She’s a newer supporter of mine, but I admire her tremendously.
