We had the good fortune of connecting with Donysha Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Donysha, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
One thing that I don’t think many people know about is the ingredients in their soaps. Some companies are putting some sketchy things in their products. Always keep an eye on that ingredient label.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I feel what sets my business apart from others are my recipes. I use all vegan products in my recipes. A thing I love to do is add actual fruits and vegetables to my soaps. Adding fruits and vegetables gives the soap so much lather and is so beneficial for your skin. Getting to where I am today was not easy. I recently had a baby and got married, life has changed quickly and I’m still catching my footing. I’m very proud to be where I am today business wise with the help of my family. I’ve learned along the way to always ask for help when you need it and give yourself grace. We’re all human. I’d like the world to know my brand as an honest company that keeps the customer in mind. I’d like my products to make people smell and feel great.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite places around town to visit would be Fifth & Broadway. Slim & Husky’s Pizza followed by some Jeni’s Ice Cream and we’d be all smiles! Afterwards take a trip next door to the National Museum of African American Music. I also love taking a trip to Plaza Mariachi. They always have the coolest events going on inside plus some of the best food around. The carne asada fries at Taqueria Hildalgo will be always be a favorite of mine! Finish it off with a mangonada from La Super Michoacana. Yum!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Someone who deserves recognition in my story is my husband Bryan. Bryan encouraged me to start my business and have faith in it. And he’s continued to encourage me to keep going. My husband has dragged around product from state to state to help me with in person craft shows, he’s helped with sales and even behind the scenes details like updating the website or labeling products. If you’ve shopped with me in person chances are you’ve met Bryan and may remember him better than me lol. He keeps me laughing and keeps me sane.
