We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison Odhner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allison, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I got married in 2016 and planned my wedding on my own, however, when it came to the bachelorette party, I wanted a stress free and memorable weekend with all my girlfriends and absolutely no involvement in the planning! After planning many friends’ bachelorette parties, I knew what a task it was to coordinate a group trip to a destination most people had never been to before and the idea of Bach to Basic was sparked! I did some research and the concept of a bachelorette planner did not exist, so I decided to bring it to life. As an event planner in the nonprofit and then corporate world, I had the experience it took to coordinate luxurious events all over the US and abroad, and the motivation and creativity to start my own business!

What should our readers know about your business?
Bach to Basic is the first of its kind. We were the first company to provide custom planning services in any destination – within the US and abroad. At the beginning, the hardest part was letting customers know that this service existed and now, it is staying ahead of our competition in the luxury market. Throughout the 7 years we have been in business, we have experienced a lot of trial and error finding exactly what our clients are looking for from a bachelorette planning company. It was not easy, but it was rewarding being able to say Bach to Basic was the first to business with the concept and ideas behind it, all created from scratch. Because of this, we have gained an immeasurable amount of experience in business, as well as event planning and feel as though we are the best equipped in the field to handle the high expectations and pressure of such momentous events. We are also the only company to offer our clients the most luxurious bachelorette experience – having an onsite concierge (member of our team) available to them throughout their event!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I started my career in event planning when I worked at a small nonprofit in Newark, NJ, when the Director of Development, Dannielle, took me under her wing. I was an Administrative Assistant and had no formal experience in planning events. Dannielle saw my interest in what she was doing and not only allowed me the opportunity to assist with internal events for the nonprofit we were working for, but also brought me along to outside smaller events she was involved with. Without question, she is where my love of event planning started and I have her mentorship, patience and friendship to thank for sparking my career in party planning.
