Meet Michael Jordan | Sports Massage Therapist with and emphasis on postural correction/realignment

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Jordan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The conception of Fortitude Sports Therapy had its initiation back in college when I suffered a lower back injury. Doctors said I had spinal stenosis and surgery could be a good option. I was only 22 at the time so decided the surgical route wasn’t for me. This injury is what ultimately set me on the path of where I am today. Solving people’s pain by identifying and correcting muscular imbalances.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
It hasn’t been easy. At some points it has, but other times have been very difficult and tiring. When I was building up my business, I worked part time at Costco. I needed a stable income and insurance to support my wife and kids. Costco became a great stepping stone for me and I am very grateful for my time there. It can be scary jumping out on your own. Having a part time job while starting Fortitude gave me the security I was wanting.
Covid was another trying time. I was forced to close down my office. We all remember what Covid was like. There were a fair amount of clients requesting I meet them in their homes, so I decided to pivot and take my business mobile. I ended up really enjoying it and was able to connect with people in a more personal way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of our favorite go-to’s is Opryland Hotel, especially when the weather is less than ideal. Walking around the hotel, you feel like you’re outside. There’s plenty of restaurants and activities for the kids to do. Indoor water park, arcades, even a water show.
Then pop over to downtown Franklin, perusing shops, and getting a cup of coffee. Then spend a few hours at Carnton Plantation learning about some of the history of the area.
I’m an outdoorsy guy so I enjoy hiking, especially when waterfalls are included. There are many fun short hikes around the Nashville area that have some stunning waterfalls.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God! I 100% believe that He has guided me on my path, pointing out nuggets of truth to help me better understand the body and where our root cause of muscular pain comes from. Without his patience, guidance and wisdom, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
