Meet Dakota Poorman | Country Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dakota Poorman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dakota, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Being myself.
Being the most authentic artist I can be. I’ve noticed over the years, people hate BS. They hate being lied to. I’m the same person on stage, as I am off stage. I feel like if you’re gonna sing about trucks and backroads and all that other stuff, it better be real. I guess I’m just a different breed. I like what I like. I like the true story songs, the ones that sing about hardships and life lived. But it has to feel right.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I like loud guitars, loud drums, and fiddle! I like taking it to the edge. I like pushing the limits of music. Grunge country is a term we coined while on tour in the Midwest. When people ask what kind of music we play, it’s pretty easy to describe; in your face, high energy country music.
I put my mark on my music. I want people grooving, buying drinks and gettin’ down. I want people to leave our show and go… shit, did we just see an arena show in a bar?
We go hard.
I’m most excited for this coming year, 2024. I can just feel it in my bones. I’m ready to take on anything that comes my way in the music world. I’d put myself up against anyone in the game of music. I have what it takes to show the world that this kid from Maple Valley, WA is a force to be reckoned with.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a huge shoutout to my wife Olivia, our two boys and my family. Without them, I don’t know where I’d be.
A huge thanks to my manager Jason Schrick of JPS Productions, I’d also like to give a huge thanks to Christopher Gergen. He is the man behind it all.
To my producer Malcolm Springer, thank you for bringing the best of me out in the studio. To my booking agent Derek Dickens, thank you for putting me on the road.
And a very special thank you to all the fans that have supported me over the years. I truly believe it’s because of y’all that I get to do what I do. And I thank you all every single day I get to wake up and fulfill my dream! I just hope one day I can give it all back!
