Meet Mike Bauman | Podcaster & Healthcare Professional

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Bauman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mike, what inspires you?
There’s so much that inspires me, but I would say that music, genuinely kind people, and people who persevere through adversity inspire me the most.
I have loved and been drawn to music since I was a kid, and I just can’t get enough of it. I’m definitely that guy who sends people the unsolicited “you gotta check these guys out” text when it comes to new artists I find. No matter what mood I’m in, or what kind of day I’m having, music always gets me through.
Kind people inspire me because it’s such a beautiful quality in a person, and sadly, it’s often mistaken for weakness. So when I come across genuinely kind, good-hearted people with pure intentions, people who want to use their time here to help lift up others, that really inspires me, because I know how rare those people are.
People who persevere also really inspire me. That’s why I love touching on that theme in my podcast. Seeing people be courageous inspires me to have more courage. Seeing people taking chances, chasing their dreams, and overcoming obstacles are reminders to me of not only the power of the human spirit, but also that the lives we want to live are possible. We just have to keep moving forward, persevere, and believe in ourselves.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have a podcast called March Forth with Mike Bauman, where I feature conversations with everybody from musicians, to filmmakers, business owners, colleagues, and friends of mine. The meaning behind the name “March Forth” is perseverance and moving forward, so that’s the common thread of the conversations we have on my podcast.
The goal of the podcast is to connect with listeners in a positive way by letting them know that they’re not alone in whatever struggle they’re going through.
Whether it’s a band that’s sold millions of records, an up-and-coming artist or filmmaker, or somebody who works a 9 to 5 and isn’t in the public eye or entertainment industry, we all go through dark times. On my podcast, I explore those dark times with guests, and discuss how they persevered through them and overcame them to get where they are today.
I want people to know that they’re not alone in whatever it is they’re going through, and that they have the power within them to overcome and build the life they dream of.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, it depends on that particular individual’s vibe and interests as to where I’d take them and what I’d show them, and there’s so much to do and see in Nashville.
That said, if we’re talking a whole week vacay with your boy, as a self-proclaimed music nerd, I’m for sure taking them on a tour of the Ryman and RCA Studio B. They’re so cool, and you don’t have to be a country music Stan to appreciate their history and enjoy their atmosphere.
Food-wise, I have a sweet tooth, so we’re getting Christie’s Cookies, Jeni’s, and Five Daughter’s (they’re here for a week; don’t judge me). A visit to Moby Dicky’s in Hendersonville would be in order; it’s a great vibe on the water with great seafood and just food in general. I’m also partial to NY Pie as far as pizza goes.
I wouldn’t be a good host if I didn’t show them some of the awesome outdoors here and take a cool hike or two. I love Percy Warner Park and Edwin Warner Park. There’s also some great trails/parks around Old Hickory Lake and Percy Priest Lake that I’d show them.
Downtown-wise, I’m a fan of Pins and HQ. The rooftop at the Bobby Hotel is cool, and the Frist Art Museum always has a cool mix of local art with showcases that come through.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My close family and friends are for sure the ones I dedicate my shoutout to.
I could write short stories about what each one of them means to me individually, but for the sake of making this digestible to read, I’ll just say that I would not be the man I am today without all of them and their roles in my life. They know who they are. I love all of them so much, and I let them know frequently, because we never know when our time is up.
Life is full of ups and downs, but I am 100% cognizant of how lucky I am to have the support system that I have in mine. They’ve seen me at my lowest, lifted me out of the gutter, and make me feel stronger than I think I am. Those are the ones you keep around, and I love them all.
