We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamika Marshall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamika, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Lady T’s was created to be a platform for providing support to those struggling with Cancer. We provide support/service by bringing/serving meals and needed supplies monthly to the residents and families of those staying at The American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge while receiving their cancer treatments.

We also started a Mentoring Program, Lady T’s “Sugar N Spice”. With the challenges our students face with Academic Learning and Healthy Youth Development we wanted to pour into our youth to show them how important their future is to us. We come into the school weekly to meet with our mentees. We provide a healthy environment focusing on the importance of education. We monitor their behaviors, attendance and grades. We also provide them with incentives when they reach their goals for the month and no infractions. Lady T’s has an open communication with our ladies and have created a safe place for them to be able to talk to us at anytime, be it day or night.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Lady T’s Hope Brigade is a Registered 501c3 Nonprofit Organization that started in February 2016 but rebranded in August 2021. We are BIG on community service and helping those in need one day at a time. Is running a nonprofit hard work YES. You have to go into this with the mindset that everyone doesn’t think like or feel like you do when it comes to helping others so don’t get caught up in expectations. This thought process will keep you from being let down. Your reward is not a FINANCIAL one but a MEANINGFUL one.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A week long visit I would most definitely take them to downtown Broadway where it is always live with beautiful lights, rooftop bars, karaoke etc. it’s always something to do and or see down there. For THE BEST Brunch Spots, I would take them to Roasted Salemtown and/or Butterfly Garden Brunch. They are simply amazing!!! For a nice dinner i would take them to Eddie V’s or Bourbon SteakHouse!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Adrianne Butler with Boogie Down Ministries. I have so much adoration and respect for this woman. She is a WARRIOR and a SURVIVOR!!!,
